I was unable to find out details on "IDAM server", as there are myriads of products, services and concepts with this name.
In general you would need to check the BSM Platform Administration Guide, Chapter 29: Authentication Strategies,
to verify whether or not your IDAM server / infrastructure behaves as expected by BSM, then it should be possible to use it for BSM authentication.
I found one case where it has been asked whether BSM can work with ForgeRock, and the reply was

IDM-SSO is integration with IDM system, when BSM configured to get user information from header sent from IDM. User login to IDM and IDM adds the header with user's login name to each request going to BSM.
BSM recognizes the header and performs automatic login using this login name from header.
ForgeRock is IDM (based on the documentation I found in Internet)
So customer should integrate ForgeRock with BSM as IDM according to our documentation:
Platform Administration > Users, Permissions, and Recipients > Identity Management Single Sign-On Authentication
